Website Design processThis is a step by step guide to explain how Web85 will work with you to design, build and publish your website. It explains your involvement and the input you provide to the process. The overall process can be completed in less than a month, but the actual timescales depends on the amount of time you can put into the development process and the size of your website. Step 1: ConsultationThe first step is to understand your objectives and your requirements. During this step Web85 will gain an understanding of your business and your aims. To help with the consultation and the subsequent design it is worth looking at the website design questionnaire. Step 2: QuotationBased on the initial consultation, your requirements and aims, a proposal is produced outlining Web85's understanding of your requirements, the recommended solution, timescales and costs. Step 3: Detailed DesignThe next step is to produce a detailed design for your website. This stage will require regular consultation and input from yourself to ensure the detailed design meets your requirements and aims. During this stage you will need to set aside a reasonable amount of time to produce the wording for your site and to review the site as it is developed. The amount of effort involved should not be underestimated. Step 4: BuildThe build step involves converting the proposal and the detailed design into your website. Throughout this process you will be consulted to gain your input. You will also be able to preview your website so that you can you provide feedback on the design, structure, navigation and content of your website. Step 5: TestingOnce your website is built, it will be thoroughly tested to ensure a quality product that is functional, useable, robust and accurate. It is tested against the latest versions of the four main browsers (i.e. Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla Firefox and Opera). All pages are validated using the W3C validator to ensure they conform to the appropriate HTML and CSS standards. Step 6: LaunchYour website is published and made available to the World Wide Web. Step 7: PromoteYour website is added to the main search engines and directories. Where appropriate your website will also be added to free geographic and industry related portals. Advice can also be given on promoting your website via 'pay per click' or 'pay' portals, directories or search engines. Step 8: Future DevelopmentIn future, if further enhancements are required or you want to expand the functionality of your website, further consultation can be arranged to discuss your requirements and possibilities and to provide a no obligation quote for the cost and timescales. |
